Chappell Roan meets Noah Kahan at the Rose Bowl

When massive musical stars collide, the resulting energy is often electric. That was the case last night in Pasadena, California, as Chappell Roan unexpectedly joined Noah Kahan for a duet of her hit song “California” at Kahan’s sold-out Rose Bowl performance.

The impromptu pairing highlighted the deep musical connection between the two artists, who share the same management company. More than 56,000 fans packed the historic college football venue to witness the unexpected collaboration, turning a major headline show into a moment of shared musical joy.

Noah Kahan’s performance was a celebration of his expansive career, drawing from the depth of his material. His set navigated beloved tracks from his Platinum-certified spring album The Great Divide, including cuts like “Orbiter” and “American Cars,” alongside classics from his 4x-Platinum Stick Season, such as “Dial Drunk” and “Northern Attitude.” The show also featured songs from his 2020 EP Cape Elizabeth, including the tour debut of “Glue Myself Shut.”

The evening was further enriched by guest artists Gigi Perez and Annabelle Dinda, who opened the show. Perez even joined Kahan for a standout moment singing “She Calls Me Back.”

Before the song began, Roan expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Kahan, noting, “Thank you for having me. Noah always stands up for me. Seriously! He’s a good person, for real.” Kahan returned the sentiment, sharing his pride in her music and thanking her for being there.

This high-profile appearance took place amidst extraordinary demand for Kahan’s The Great Divide World Tour, which is currently sold out across North America, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., and Europe. The tour has proven its massive appeal, with the North American onsale moving more than 1 million tickets instantaneously.

Kahan’s touring success has reached historic milestones. He recently achieved four sold-out performances at Boston’s Fenway Park, making him the first artist ever to sell out four shows at the iconic venue and earning induction into the Fenway Music Hall of Fame. The tour is set to continue this week, with Kahan heading through stops in San Diego’s Petco Park and Seattle’s T-Mobile Park before continuing his journey across the globe.

Beyond the music, Kahan is leveraging his platform to champion mental health awareness through his nonprofit, the Busyhead Project. Since its launch in 2023, the organization has raised nearly $7 million, and the ongoing tour is expected to raise another $2 million in partnership with Live Nation. Kahan plans to honor this mission by heading to Stowe, Vt., for the second annual Folk & Fairways benefit and golf tournament on September 14-15.
