John Summit cancels August shows for recharge
When a musician is on a relentless trajectory, sometimes the smartest move is hitting the pause button. That’s exactly what producer and DJ John Summit has decided to do, stepping away from the stage to recharge and prepare for some seriously massive upcoming plans.
Summit recently announced a change of pace, canceling his remaining August festival dates. This decision means he will miss out on major European events including Belgium’s Pukkelpop, Malta’s UNO Malta, the U.K.’s Creamfields, and France’s Touquet Music Beach Festival. While he rarely takes such breaks, the need to rest is clear, especially with bigger adventures on the horizon.
The pause isn’t a retreat; it’s a strategic pivot. Summit’s recent tour schedule has been packed with high-energy performances, featuring headlining spots at Lollapalooza, his Ibiza residency, and major festivals like Tomorrowland and Canada’s Cowboy’s Music Festival. The sheer volume of work demanded by these endeavors required him to hit the reset switch.
Now, the focus shifts entirely to the next chapter: an ambitious North American arena tour. This massive run is built around his recent album, CTRL ESCAPE”>CTRL ESCAPE, which achieved a Top 9 spot on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart. This tour is set to be his biggest run yet, kicking off on October 1st in Champaign, Illinois, and running for 21 dates.
The journey culminates in a spectacular finale. Summit is bringing the CTRL ESCAPE”>CTRL ESCAPE experience to the arena, closing out the run on December 12th at the 77,500-capacity Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This final show is poised to be the defining moment of his career to date.
Even before diving into the arena schedule, Summit is keeping the momentum going with a series of stops across the continent. His schedule already includes September dates in Bogotá, Colombia, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, alongside performances at his own Experts Only Festival in New York and a gig at Las Vegas’ LIV Nightclub.
