Sylvan Esso drops new LP Ow ∞ and shares Concrete Glen

Sylvan Esso Launches New Chapter with New Album and Exciting Tour

The sonic landscape is buzzing as Sylvan Esso signals a fresh beginning. Following their release of No Rules Sandy in 2022, the duo has announced a new album, Ow ∞, launching them into an exciting new creative phase. This announcement is accompanied by a lively fall tour designed to bring their unique sound to audiences across the country and beyond.

Their latest musical offering, Ow ∞, arrives on September 11th via Psychic Hotline. The album is a collaboration rooted in the creative synergy of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, with contributions from a stellar group including Daniel Aged, BJ Burton, Matt Douglas, Glenn Kotche, Jake Luppen, TJ Maiani, James Mapley-Brittle, Buddy Ross, Jenn Wasner, and Joe Westerlund.

The creative journey behind the music is as compelling as the sound itself. Amelia Meath reflects on her production philosophy, noting that true innovation often comes from subtraction: “One of my favorite ways of producing in general is to come up with an idea and then take out a third of it. One, it makes things interesting and exciting, but also it makes your ear ask a question. And it kind of forces the listener to be creative as well.”

She further shared a deeper perspective on living, stating that committing to experience potential hurt is part of participating in life: “Living hurts forever, and then it stops. But also it’s a little silly. And that’s how I feel. If you’re going to keep participating in the world, and in your life, you have to commit to being hurt. And if you aren’t putting yourself in the way of potential hurt, you miss out on a lot of potential opportunities.”

This raw emotionality permeates their work, as demonstrated by recent singles like Concrete Glen, which features an evocative sample of Sigur Rós’ “Svefn-g-englar.”

Fans have ample opportunity to dive into the new material through dedicated listening events. Sylvan Esso is hosting album sessions on September 3rd in numerous international cities, including Mexico City, London, Berlin, Tokyo, and New York, offering a global experience for their music.

The momentum continues with an upcoming fall band tour kicking off in October. The tour schedule is packed with dates across the United States and the UK, highlighted by a major stop in New York City at Brooklyn Paramount on October 14th. Further stops include shows in Burlington, VT, Asheville, NC, and Boston, MA.

The full rollout features an extensive list of listening sessions and tour dates, providing music lovers everywhere a chance to connect with the sounds of Sylvan Esso as they embark on this new chapter.
