Wavelength Gets Völur: Friday the Horse & Singers at St Anne’s Show

Wavelength Music is partnering with Sonic Boom for A Concert in the Ruins of St. Anne’s Church, an experience that merges evocative soundscapes with a powerful message of collective remembrance.

The event will take place on August 27 at the historic site of St. Anne’s Church, providing an intimate setting for reflection under the night sky. This special collaboration is also linked to the art exhibition Where Walls Meet Sky, creating a multi-sensory journey that invites attendees to consider themes of loss, resilience, and rebuilding.

The venue itself carries profound history. In June 2024, St. Anne’s Anglican Church suffered a devastating fire, leaving behind a site that holds deep meaning for the generations of families in Toronto’s Little Portugal Neighbourhood. The concert aims to honor this memory while celebrating the potential for new beginnings.

More than just a performance, the event is framed as a contemplative experience where sound and sight converge. Attendees will be immersed in an atmosphere that encourages reflection on renewal and the strength found in community.

The musical program promises a rich tapestry of Toronto-based talent. The bill features compelling sets from Toronto ambient drone-folk outfit Völur, the charismatic Charles Spearin & the Local Singers with Fleshtone Aura, Kitchener’s A Horse Named Friday, and the local DJ project +BODY////GRAVE.
