Across the Atlantic, where the vibrant scenes of New York and Miami converge, two distinct musical forces are weaving a shared tapestry rooted in Colombian heritage: experimental electronic artist Ela Minus and DJ-producer Nick León.
Their initial collaboration proved to be an immediate spark. Last year, they teamed up to release “Ghost Orchid,” a standout single from León’s debut album, A Tropical Entropy.
But the connection between Minus and León quickly transcended a simple project. This wasn’t just a session; it was a deep creative resonance. They found an unspoken understanding in their sound, a kind of kinship that drove their artistic synergy.
“It was so free,” León reflects on their work together, highlighting the ease and flow of their creative chemistry. “There were unspoken understandings of what we wanted to do. That’s not normal.”
Minus echoes this sentiment, noting that the connection felt instinctive. “We immediately felt this kinship,” she adds, underscoring how naturally their artistic visions aligned.
This potent chemistry didn’t end with a single track. The artists decided to expand their partnership into something bigger, creating an entire EP together. This collaborative spirit echoes Minus’s previous work with DJ Python in 2022, demonstrating a shared willingness to explore new sonic territories.
Their ongoing journey continues, marked by fresh releases that showcase their evolving sound and shared perspective. Most recently, Ela Minus and Nick León announced their new EP, qué les pasó a mis amigos?, which includes the track “espiral.”
