Phoebe Bridgers strips down Lost Boys

When Phoebe Bridgers steps back into the spotlight, she doesn’t just release music; she orchestrates an experience. Following the unveiling of “Lost Boys”—her first original solo work since 2022—Bridgers has masterfully guided fans through a captivating artistic rollout that blends intimate songwriting with massive, unexpected fanfare.

The momentum began with the release of a stripped-back acoustic version of the single, offering listeners an immediate, raw connection to the track. This fresh take was amplified by surprise appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where Bridgers shared different facets of her evolving artistry.

These televised moments provided viewers with two dramatically different looks at “Lost Boys.” For one performance, she collaborated with a group of young musicians ranging from eight to fourteen years old, including 11-year-old guitarist Bay Melnick Virgolino and drummer Ryder B. The other appearance offered a more seasoned acoustic feel, featuring acclaimed players like songwriter Dan Reeder and guitarist David Grier.

The studio version of “Lost Boys” itself is a rich tapestry of collaboration, boasting contributions from longtime associates including Tony Berg, Ethan Gruska, Jack Antonoff, and members of her band boygenius, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, alongside skilled instrumentalists such as Chris Thile and Sebastian Steinberg.

This successful campaign served as the perfect gateway to her forthcoming album, Lost Weekend, which was announced for release on August 14th via Dead Oceans. The excitement generated by “Lost Boys” immediately translated into massive commercial success, with both Bridgers’ North American and U.K. arena tours selling out within hours of announcement.

Bridgers continues to embrace an unconventional approach to her artistic presentation. Beyond the major tours, she has kept fans close through a series of intimate pop-up shows across the U.S., culminating in a sold-out performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden just days before the album’s official street date.

To extend this immersive experience, Bridgers is planning global engagement through more than 300 midnight listening parties, inviting audiences worldwide to dive deeper into the sound and story of her latest work.
