Phoebe Bridgers stars in new A24 drama Primetime

Indie icon Phoebe Bridgers is busy hitting multiple creative high notes, pairing a richly layered new musical journey with an unexpected foray into film.

The indie star is set to release her long-awaited third solo record, Lost Weekend, next Friday (August 14), bringing fresh sounds following the success of her previous work, including the critically acclaimed album Punisher.

Ahead of the release, Bridgers has teased the music with a lead single, Lost Boys, which has already captivated listeners. The new album itself promises even more depth, having been co-written and featured by members of the celebrated Boygenius band, including Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, alongside collaborators like Christian Lee Hutson and Jack Antonoff.

The musical celebration extends far beyond streaming. Bridgers is engaging fans on a unique level, inviting listeners to experience Lost Weekend in full at planetariums around the world, where each session features specially designed visual displays.

To further celebrate the release, massive midnight album release parties are scheduled globally on August 13th, allowing fans across the US, UK, Europe, and beyond to listen together for the first time.

Bridgers is also connecting with her audience through exclusive opportunities, including a special Spotify listening event in New Jersey in partnership with Spotify and Dead Oceans.

But the spotlight doesn’t stop at music. Bridgers is stepping into the world of cinema as she prepares for her acting debut in director Lance Oppenheim’s upcoming film, Primetime. The production features major star Robert Pattinson, who will portray Chris Hansen, the host and creator of the hit television program To Catch a Predator.

While Bridgers’ specific role has yet to be confirmed, the film is set for a September 25 release and is distributed by A24. The story follows Hansen as he confronts child predators through the rise of the Dateline program, alongside other cast members including Merritt Wever and Skyler Gisondo.

As Bridgers gears up for this cinematic adventure, she continues to tour throughout the year, bringing the spirit of Lost Weekend to audiences across North America, the UK, and Europe. The tour is supported by Alex G and Isaac Wood, and includes a unique stipulation: a strict “no phones” rule at all performances.
