Gaga Music and Warp Publishing Strike New Partnership

The world of independent music is buzzing with news about rights management and global expansion, as two major players in the publishing sphere have joined forces to unlock new creative pathways. Gaga Music, an independent Australian specialist in publishing and sync, has forged a significant new alliance with London-based Warp Publishing.

This partnership builds on a foundation of collaboration that began in 2017, where the two entities had already successfully represented each other’s catalogues across key international territories. Now, that connection is deepening, signaling a major move to enhance global opportunities for songwriters, composers, and represented musical works.

The new arrangement, announced on Monday, August 31st, extends this alliance by formally integrating Warp Publishing as an active partner in Gaga Music. This expanded collaboration is anchored by Australian business founder Grant Gillies, bringing together the strengths of both organizations.

To formalize this synergy, Warp Publishing director Theo Seffusatti and general manager Nadine Riezouw have joined Gillies on the board of Gaga Music, ensuring that the direction of the partnership is focused on long-term creative growth and independent artist development.

The core mission behind this new deal is clear: to expand global opportunities for creators. As one of the key stakeholders commented, the partnership is designed to provide a genuinely creative and ethical alternative in rights management, acknowledging the increasing climate shaped by consolidation and external investment.

“Warp is an iconic name in the global music community, with an extraordinary history and forward-thinking roster,” commented Grant Gillies. “It’s a privilege to be working more closely together.”

The commitment to shared values is evident in the joint statement from the publishing side. Theo Seffusatti noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to independence and artist-focused development through sync, score, and songwriting opportunities. This move also signals a continued investment in building meaningful international pathways for songwriters across the Asia Pacific region.

Nadine Riezouw, General Manager of Warp Publishing and former GM of Gaga Music, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the shared ethos. “Having been part of both companies, I know that they share the same values and unwavering support for independent artists,” she stated. “Being able to strengthen this ethos now jointly, is a proud step in offering further opportunities in a way that is truly independent, transparent and sustainable for our songwriters.”

Gaga Music, which was established in 2007, continues its impressive work, administering and pitching over 100,000 titles and operating offices across Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. Its catalogue boasts works from celebrated acts and labels including Third Side Music, Thrill Jockey, and Secretly Canadian.

Warp Publishing, with its fifteen-year history and offices in London and Los Angeles, is renowned for its services to artists like Danny Brown, Khruangbin, and Dry Cleaning, providing publishing services for an extraordinary roster of talent.
