Fontaines D.C. share pounding comeback single and album date

The Dublin-formed outfit Fontaines D.C. is dialing up the intensity, confirming that their next chapter is set to arrive with the new album Dopamine Chamber, set to drop on October 16 via XL Recordings.

The anticipation surrounding the new release is fueled by the punchy lead single, “Marianne.” This track made its live debut during a headline performance at the Baluarte de la Candelaria venue in Cadiz, Spain, on August 8, setting an immediate, raw tone for the forthcoming LP.

The sonic landscape of Dopamine Chamber signals a deliberate shift, embracing a darker, more electronic-infused sound. This evolution is rooted in the production work of James Ford, who has previously shaped the band’s sound on both Skinty Fia and Romance.

Conor Curley, the band’s guitarist, has reflected on this creative direction, noting that the new influences and sonic shifts represent the band’s ongoing quest to “find stuff that pointed into the future.”

This latest entry follows a prolific run of releases, marking the band’s fifth record. They have built a formidable reputation over the past decade, evolving from a celebrated indie act into a group that commands arena-sized headlines while maintaining sharp critical acclaim.

Romance, their previous work, was a significant milestone, earning the band a nomination for the Mercury Prize and securing the 2025 BRIT award for international group. It also achieved mainstream success, peaking at No. 2 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart and making the group’s debut entry on the Billboard 200.

Fontaines D.C.’s career has been punctuated by recognition, with multiple Grammy Award nominations recognizing their work, including a nod for the best rock album for A Hero’s Death in 2021, and further nominations for Romance and the single “Starburster.”

As the band prepares for the launch of Dopamine Chamber, they are also slated to headline the Reading & Leeds Festival on August 30, joining a stellar lineup including Charli xcx, RAYE, Dave, Florence + The Machine, and Chase & Status, ensuring their momentum continues to build.
