Fontaines D.C. books huge 80k gig at Slane Castle
Dublin Rock Icons Fontaines D.C. Ignite Slane Castle with Phenomenal Demand
The demand for Dublin rock sensation Fontaines D.C. is reaching an unprecedented level, prompting the band to announce a second massive show at the historic Slane Castle. Following their recent stellar performances, the reaction has been overwhelming, resulting in an additional 80,000 capacity event that fans are eager to experience.
The announcement solidifies Fontaines D.C.’s status as major festival headliners. The Dublin acts recently confirmed their performance dates at Slane Castle, which will mark them as the third Irish act to headline the venue, following legendary acts like Thin Lizzy in 1981 and U2 in 2001. This places them in a lineage of truly iconic rock figures who command enormous crowds.
This escalating interest comes after their recent headline performances at major events like Reading & Leeds and Electric Picnic. The energy displayed by the band has captivated audiences, proving their enduring power in the indie music landscape.
The band’s recent momentum is mirrored by new musical output. They are set to release their fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, on October 16, produced by James Ford. The album builds upon their platinum-certified 2024 work and features compelling new tracks, including the lead single Marianne and exciting new songs such as Six Shot Morning and Happy, For You.
The live experience has also been dynamic. The track Happy, For You recently got its live debut at the Leeds Festival, showcasing the band’s ability to deliver raw and powerful performances. The recent Reading show, while noted for some setlist changes, was still hailed as a deserved coronation from the band of our time.
Building on this incredible momentum, the band is now offering fans a second chance to experience them live. Due to phenomenal demand, a second date has been added to the Slane Castle schedule on Sunday, June 27th.
Tickets for this added gig are now available, with general sales starting shortly. This means fans get a double dose of the Dublin sound at the historic venue.
Beyond the Slane Castle dates, Fontaines D.C. are preparing for an extensive arena tour later this year. The UK leg of this journey kicks off with a show at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on November 20th, with further stops planned across major cities including Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, and London. The tour will also kick off internationally in Lisbon next month, demonstrating their reach across Europe.
