Zelda Anniversary Showcase Highlights
Nintendo recently celebrated four decades of an enduring epic by hosting a spectacular Direct event to mark the 40th anniversary of The Legend Of Zelda.
The celebration kicked off with a truly unforgettable performance: a live orchestral rendition of Koji Kondo’s iconic score, set against footage spanning four decades of the series. This grand display beautifully showcased the evolution of the characters Link, Zelda, and Ganon, reflecting the deep themes of wisdom, power, and courage that define the saga.
To commemorate this milestone, Nintendo announced plans for a live Legend Of Zelda orchestral tour, which will begin in Japan before expanding across Europe, North America, and Australia next year.
Beyond the music, the focus shifted to the monumental upcoming remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, set to launch on November 5, 2026. This updated version promises a complete reinvention of the classic adventure. The new iteration will feature completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, and reworked camera and movement controls, ushering Link’s milestone 1998 journey into a brand new era.
Fans can anticipate some delightful new gameplay, including original minigames, such as one that allows players to create their own music using a virtual ocarina.
To accompany the launch of the remake, Nintendo is rolling out a host of commemorative items. This includes new amiibos, a special edition Nintendo Switch 2, and physical copies of the remake featuring special packaging with textured foil cover art. The celebration also extends to the physical space, with The Legend Of Zelda taking over The Nintendo Museum in Kyoto with new exhibits and artwork.
Merchandise excitement is also high, with new Zelda Lego sets featuring Link and Epona launching next spring, alongside Hasbro releasing a toy version of the Master Sword. Nintendo is also preparing to release two unique ocarinas: one playable version for the musically inclined, and an electric version from HORI that allows players to play notes or entire songs with the press of a button.
