After four decades of captivating adventurers, The Legend Of Zelda is gearing up for a monumental celebration, with Nintendo announcing a global orchestral concert tour series to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary. This grand musical journey promises to bring the magic of Hyrule, the heroism of Link, and the depth of the adventure to audiences worldwide.
The announcement followed an engaging Direct to tell fans on September 8, where the company showcased a spectacular performance. It began with a live orchestral rendition of Koji Kondo’s iconic score, juxtaposed with footage spanning the last 40 years of the legendary game series. This visual and auditory feast brilliantly demonstrated the evolution of the narrative, exploring the themes of wisdom, power, and courage that have defined Zelda’s legacy.
Kondo reflected on the musical journey, noting how the soundtrack has transformed over the years. He explained that the music began with just three audio channels in the first game, evolving into the more bombastic and subtle orchestral movements enjoyed in recent titles. The goal, he shared, was simply to bring more people the opportunity to experience this incredible music live.
To honor this milestone, Nintendo confirmed that an orchestral tour is set to kick off next year. The tour schedule will begin with a series of dates in Japan in January 2027, followed by tours across North America, Europe, and Australia, featuring local orchestras at every stop.
The ambitious itinerary is packed with performances designed to reach global audiences. Confirmed dates span from January 2027 through October, with performances scheduled across major cultural hubs, including Tokyo, Chicago, London, Sydney, Stockholm, and Seattle. The schedule highlights venues like the Royal Albert Hall, the Opera House, and the Sydney Opera House, ensuring a truly world-class experience.
Beyond the concert series, the celebration extends to the film adaptation. Next year, audiences can look forward to the release of the The Legend Of Zelda movie, which will feature Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto emphasized that the film aims to tell an “original story” deeply inspired by the series’ 40-year history.
In other exciting gaming news, London’s Southbank Centre has also announced plans for an orchestral gig featuring the soundtracks from popular titles such as Lies Of P and Black Desert Online, further demonstrating the deep connection between gaming and world-class music.
