The Prodigy drops ‘Breathe’ 30th anniversary vinyl
When a classic hits a milestone, it deserves more than just a retrospective—it deserves a celebration. The Prodigy have just delivered exactly that, announcing a special 12″ vinyl edition of their iconic track, ‘Breathe,’ marking the song’s 30th anniversary.
This celebrated piece of music, originally released in 1996, served as the powerful second single from their seminal third studio album, ‘The Fat Of The Land’ (1997). It was a track that propelled Liam Howlett and the band to consecutive UK Number One singles, following their triumph with ‘Firestarter.’
The special reissue is set to hit shelves on Friday, November 13, two days after the track itself reaches its three-decade mark on November 11. The vinyl package is packed with the essential elements fans crave, featuring the original track alongside an instrumental version and highly sought-after remixes from heavyweights like The Glitch Mob and Mefjus & Camo & Krooked.
The anniversary release isn’t just about the sound; it’s about legacy. ‘The Fat Of The Land’ is widely regarded as one of the most influential and defining records of its era, a project that exploded globally, selling over 10 million copies and earning multiple accolades, including the Viewer’s Choice prize at the 1997 MTV VMAs.
The track ‘Breathe’ was also accompanied by a Walter Stern-directed video that secured the Viewer’s Choice and International Viewer’s Choice Awards for MTV Europe, cementing the song’s status as a cultural phenomenon.
Looking ahead, The Prodigy continue to push the boundaries of their sound. Liam Howlett has spoken about the band’s evolution, noting that while their early sound was described as ‘evil rave,’ the new music is now described as ‘fuckin’ evil rave,’ promising to deliver a bigger punch in their upcoming performances.
The band is currently gearing up for major global events, including their appearance as headliners for Creamfields in 2027, marking their first performance at the festival in 14 years. They have recently completed massive outdoor tours in places like Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin as part of their ‘Warrior’s Dance’ tour, demonstrating their enduring live power.
The continued evolution of The Prodigy’s sound, coupled with their commitment to massive live experiences, ensures that this milestone reissue of ‘Breathe’ is set to be as explosive as the music itself.
