Remi Wolf announces new album Mud and a new phase

Palo Alto singer-songwriter Remi Wolf is embarking on an exciting new chapter, announcing her third studio album, Mud. More than just a collection of songs, the record marks a significant personal milestone for Wolf, who has described the creative process as deeply transformative, helping her enter a new phase of life.

The album is set to arrive on October 9 through Island Records. The 11-track release will feature the recent single Twiggy, alongside a brand new track, Bottle, set to drop later in August.

Wolf reflected on the creation of ‘Mud‘, describing the entire experience as a profound clearing. “I literally felt like I was covered in shit. And now, at the end of the album process, I feel so clean and clear. It has been a very cleansing record to make for me.”

This introspective mood is woven throughout the new work. Her single ‘Twiggy‘, released recently, touches on complex themes, exploring relationships and emotional availability. Wolf herself has suggested the song delves into themes of those she has been with who lack both emotional depth and physical presence, though she left room for interpretation regarding the underlying meaning.

The journey to ‘Mud‘ involved a significant creative shift. Following extensive touring, Wolf reevaluated how she wanted to express herself musically. Initial songwriting sessions took place in Nashville before she relocated to Big Bear, California, where she brought together a unique creative team.

She collaborated with her longtime musical family, including Jared Solomon, Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin, and Gigi Grombacher. This group, which Wolf refers to as a “family band,” helped shape the sound, convening at New York’s Electric Lady Studios and finishing the record in Joshua Tree.

Mud‘ follows Wolf’s previous acclaimed works, including her 2021 debut ‘Juno‘ and the 2024 album ‘Big Ideas‘. ‘Big Ideas‘, which earned high praise for its honest contradictions and funk-fueled catharsis, was noted for being a record that was both sonically vibrant and keenly honest.

The sound of ‘Mud‘ balances raw emotional vulnerability with a groovy, undeniable energy, reflecting Wolf’s evolution as an artist. It stands as a testament to the power of creative process—a journey from feeling overwhelmed to achieving clarity.

Remi Wolf’s ‘Mud‘ is not just a new album; it is a vibrant expression of personal evolution, inviting listeners into a space defined by cleansing, complexity, and powerful, honest sound.
