The music world recently witnessed a powerful convergence of artistry and philanthropy at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival, an event that didn’t just celebrate music but ignited a massive wave of support for women and girls.

The festival successfully raised $10 million for various women’s charities. This remarkable achievement received an incredible boost when philanthropist Melinda French Gates stepped in, making a multimillion-dollar donation that doubled the fundraising total to an astonishing $20 million.

The moment this enormous generosity was announced added an extra layer of emotional weight. During her headlining performance on Saturday night at Great Park in Irvine, California, Rodrigo welcomed French Gates onstage to reveal the staggering donation.

“I’m totally floored because as well as being in attendance here tonight, she’s pledged to double every dollar that we made here today to a grand total of funds being donated to $20 million,” Rodrigo told the crowd, underscoring the impact of the generosity.

The $10 million initially raised went toward a wide array of vital organizations, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, the National Institute for Reproductive Health, the National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.

Beyond the monumental financial contribution, the festival itself was a vibrant showcase of musical talent. Rodrigo personally curated the lineup, featuring powerhouse acts like Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage, The Breeders, and Bikini Kill, with special guests Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan adding to the unforgettable experience.
