Laneway Festival Confirms Shrunken 2027 Run, Kicking Off in Sydney

The anticipation for the Laneway Festival is officially ramping up, as organizers have unveiled the scaled-back itinerary for the 2027 edition. While not every city will see the music this time around, the festival is set to kick off in Sydney, marking a historic debut for the touring event.

This year’s journey will trace a spectacular route across Australia and New Zealand. The festival will begin in Sydney at Centennial Park on Friday, February 12, followed immediately by a move to the Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday, February 13. The adventure continues through Melbourne, returning to its beloved home at Flemington Park on Friday, February 19, before wrapping up the tour in Auckland at Western Springs on Sunday, February 21.

The decision to narrow the scope was driven by the sheer logistical challenge of staging multiple events across such a vast area. Organizers acknowledged that running numerous shows in close proximity across extensive ground required a recalibration, allowing them to prioritize the quality of the experience rather than simply the quantity of stops.

As the festival looked to refine its footprint, it made the strategic choice to adjust the route. This shift means that Adelaide and Perth will not be part of the 2027 festival, a move that reflects a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience in the areas they cover.

Laneway has always been known for its ambitious reach, but this adjustment signals a focus on making the festival the best it can be. This period of transition comes as the festival reflects on its journey, recently celebrating its 21st anniversary in 2026, which featured a stellar lineup including Chappell Roan, Wolf Alice, Role Model, Wet Leg, PinkPantheress, and Geese.

While the specifics of the 2027 lineup remain under wraps, excitement is already building. Fans can expect a fresh set of artists to take the stage, with the first artist announcement anticipated in late September.

The confirmed dates are a reminder of an incredible tour already underway, promising a concentrated dose of music and atmosphere across the eastern seaboard and the North Island.
