Noah Kahan brings out Chappell Roan for a Rose Bowl surprise
The lights, the roar of the crowd, and a moment of pure musical magic—that was the atmosphere at Noah Kahan’s sold-out performance at Rose Bowl Stadium, where he welcomed pop sensation Chappell Roan for a surprise appearance.
This momentous occasion, held on Saturday, August 15th in Pasadena, California, wasn’t just another concert; it was a landmark event for the singer-songwriter. Drawing more than 56,000 fans to the famed venue as part of his The Great Divide World Tour, the show set a new benchmark for Kahan’s headlining performances.
As Kahan launched into his set, he took a moment to share his gratitude with the massive crowd. He reflected on his journey, recalling earlier experiences and expressing deep appreciation for being on stage, setting an incredibly warm tone for the evening.
Midway through his performance, the music took an unexpected turn when a ringing payphone interrupted the flow. Kahan paused, taking the opportunity to tease the audience about bringing out a special guest. And indeed, as promised, Chappell Roan stepped onto the stage to join him for a duet.
They performed a beautiful rendition of “California,” drawn from Roan’s 2023 debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The song perfectly encapsulated Roan’s journey, reflecting her path from Missouri to Los Angeles in pursuit of her musical dreams.
The connection between the two artists felt genuinely heartfelt. After the performance, Roan expressed her sincere admiration for Kahan, telling the audience that he was a good person. Kahan responded by sharing how much his music meant to him, stating that he fell in love with her sound early on and was incredibly proud to share the stage with her.
Kahan’s set provided a rich tapestry of his career, weaving together tracks from his breakout album Stick Season, including hits like “Dial Drunk” and “Northern Attitude,” alongside powerful songs from The Great Divide, such as “The Great Divide” and “American Cars.”
The incredible run of the World Tour continues, with Kahan currently making stops across the country. Fans can look forward to the next leg, which includes a stop at San Diego’s Petco Park on Monday, August 17th, before heading to Seattle’s T-Mobile Park, concluding the North American tour on August 31st, followed by international dates this fall.
