King Gizzard Alien Metal session

The sonic landscape of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is always shifting, and lately, the crew has found themselves deep in the throes of analog creation. After a period of high-energy performances, including a series of “rave” shows last year, the band discovered an unexpected source for their next musical adventure: modular electronics.

This journey led them to fall head over heels for a complex setup of Eurorack synthesizers, which they affectionately nicknamed Nathan. This unique assemblage of hardware became the perfect vehicle for capturing the sprawling, psychedelic sound that defines King Gizzard.

Using this experimental gear, the band dove into the recording studio and brought their vision for the album Alien Metal to life. The resulting work is number 28 on the group’s prolific discography, a testament to the band’s willingness to experiment with new sonic territories.

The buzz surrounding the project began with a lead single, “Level 5,” which gave listeners a taste of the intensity and creativity bubbling within the band. Now, anticipation is building as the group prepares to unleash the title track from Alien Metal, promising a journey into the strange and mesmerizing world they have built with their modular creations.
