Heated Rivalry Soundtrack Reaches Billboard 200 Milestone
The music behind a high-stakes fictional rivalry has hit the charts, proving that the soundtrack to a television hit can be just as compelling as the show itself. The soundtrack for Heated Rivalry made a major splash, debuting at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart following its physical release.
This success wasn’t limited to traditional album sales. The soundtrack dominated specialized charts, topping the Vinyl Albums chart, Indie Store Album Sales, and Soundtracks charts, while also landing at No. 2 on the overall Top Album Sales list. Luminate data showed that the soundtrack garnered 41,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending July 17.
The physical release strategy for the music was clearly a winner. Fans were treated to two color vinyl variants and a comprehensive two-CD set. These packages brought together some of the show’s emotional core, featuring tracks like t.A.T.u.’s “All the Things She Said,” Wolf Parade’s “I’ll Believe in Anything,” and Feist’s “My Moon My Man,” alongside highlights from Peter Peter’s original score.
The value of these physical formats was undeniable. The vinyl editions alone sold an impressive 28,000 copies in their opening week, marking the largest sales week on vinyl for a soundtrack in 2026.
The music complements the action on screen, which follows Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams as hockey rivals Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander navigating a complicated secret romance. The series, which premiered on HBO Max and Crave, is adapted from Rachel Reid’s popular Game Changers book series and has been renewed for a second season.
With the soundtrack climbing the Billboard rankings, it highlights how powerfully music can amplify a television narrative, turning a fictional story into a cultural phenomenon that resonates far beyond the screen.
