Charlie Puth cancels ANZ arena dates
When plans shift as suddenly as a pop song changes key, it sends ripples through the music world. Pop sensation Charlie Puth has officially cancelled his highly anticipated Australian and New Zealand arena tour, scrapping a number of November dates that had been announced in April.
The six-date run was set to kick off at Auckland’s Spark Arena before heading across the continent to major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. Fans were left waiting for an “unforgettable live experience” that had been promised.
In a move that bypassed public explanation, Puth’s team sent an email to ticket holders confirming that the shows will no longer proceed. All tickets will be automatically refunded to the original payment method, requiring no action from the fans to receive their money back.
Ticketing outlets have followed suit, listing the concerts as cancelled and removing the dates from sale, leaving fans with a sudden pivot in their travel plans.
The decision comes without a stated reason, and Puth has not publicly addressed the choice at the time of the announcement. As of now, there is no indication of when, or if, replacement dates will be scheduled.
The cancelled itinerary was intended to support the launch of Puth’s fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, which arrived in March. This project is a sonic journey that blends jazz, soft rock, and yacht rock influences, spiced up by guest appearances from luminaries like Kenny G, Kenny Loggins, and Jeff Goldblum.
Puth has built a substantial career, starting with his feature on Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” in 2015. His successful singles, such as “Marvin Gaye” featuring Meghan Trainor and “We Don’t Talk Anymore” featuring Selena Gomez, helped establish his presence, culminating in his debut album, Nine Track Mind, released in 2016.
