Blue Note Launches London with Robert Glasper Shows

A legendary institution is crossing the Atlantic, bringing a vibrant new sound to London. The iconic Blue Note Jazz Club is set to open its first location in the UK, planting its flag in the heart of West End culture on September 23rd.

This isn’t just the arrival of a venue; it’s the arrival of a sonic philosophy. The new London chapter is designed to be more than just a place for music—it’s intended to be a melting pot where jazz tradition seamlessly fuses with the rapidly evolving borders of R&B, hip-hop, and everything in between.

Kicking off the grand opening on September 23rd and 24th, five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper will take the stage. To set the tone for this exciting debut, Glasper will headline the inaugural event before returning for a seven-show residency throughout November.

Glasper isn’t just a performer; he’s already shaping the artistic direction of the new club, serving as a creative ambassador for Blue Note London. His vision is clear: to create a dynamic space where diverse musical genres can meet, evolve, and surprise the audience.

The initial programming perfectly underscores this inclusive ethos. The opening lineup promises an eclectic mix, featuring talent from across the genre spectrum, including neo-soul trailblazer Erykah Badu, singer/songwriter Jamie Cullum, saxophonist Nubya Garcia, drummer Yussef Dayes, and vibrant collective Kokoroko, alongside East London singer-rapper Hak Baker.

Blue Note Entertainment Group co-owner Tsion Bensusan hailed the move as a major milestone for the company, emphasizing that the club aims to become a true home for musicians and a crucial gathering place for London’s creative community.

The physical space itself is designed for versatility. Located on St. Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden, the main room will boast a 250-capacity main stage for nightly performances. Furthermore, the club plans to feature a dedicated, smaller performance space with 100 seats specifically reserved for emerging U.K. artists, ensuring a platform for the next generation of talent.
