Young Fresh Fellows launch 2026 East Coast tour

The journey of Pacific Northwest indie rock royalty often involves a pilgrimage, and this decade has seen a remarkable expansion for the band Young Fresh Fellows. Led for over four decades by Scott McCaughey—a name synonymous with foundational acts like R.E.M. and Minus 5—the group typically keeps their roots firmly planted in the Pacific Northwest. However, this year marked a thrilling, overdue foray into the East Coast circuit, bringing their unique sound to a wide array of cities.

This expansion isn’t just about playing shows; it’s about bridging musical divides and connecting with new audiences. The momentum is building as the band prepares for an extensive October tour, hitting major hubs from New York City down to Baltimore.

The grand opening act on this unexpected East Coast run is set to take place in New York City. Fans can catch Young Fresh Fellows on October 16 at Bowery Palace (formerly known as Bowery Electric). The evening promises a special experience, featuring WFMU’s Todd-O-Phonic Todd as the DJ, adding an extra layer of sonic texture to the performance.

Beyond the big city spectacle, the tour brings unique flavors to smaller communities as well. In North Carolina, the group is scheduled to play during the popular Popsicle Fest in Carrboro, NC, where they will share the stage with a diverse lineup including The Connells, Superdrag, Chuck Prophet, and many other celebrated acts.

This week, Scott McCaughey himself is making an appearance in NYC, stepping onto the stage at the Bowery Ballroom on August 7th.
