Yeah Yeah Yeahs release ‘Hidden in Pieces Live’ concert film
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are ushering in a new era for their fanbase, unveiling a deeply personal and ethereal collection of their live energy. The band has announced the release of a new live album and a companion film, both centered around the evocative title Hidden in Pieces.
The live album, titled Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall, captures the raw, shimmering experience of the band performing at the grand London venue, marking the culmination of their 25th-anniversary tour in 2025. It is now available for streaming across all major digital platforms, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into the magic of the performance.
Complementing the audio experience is the companion film, also titled Hidden in Pieces. Directed by Barnaby Clay, this 22-minute cinematic piece was shot at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and aims to capture the spirit of the band’s shows—something delicate, dream-like, emotionally charged, and shrouded in mystery.
Clay shared that the vision for the film was driven by a desire to create a piece that felt like a precious, timeless memory. It was a way to commune with the band and their fan family in 2025, a moment born from the collective energy of the times.
During the filming, the band experienced a profound sense of connection, feeling the “spirits of all legends swirling past us.” Nick Zinner recalled feeling intuitively guided on the guitar neck, describing an alchemy that occurred when they played the hall and everything “clicked into place.” The performances on this tour were described as extraordinarily vulnerable.
Adding to the mystical atmosphere, the film opens with an ode to David Lynch, who had passed away just a month before the journey began, setting a tone that is both melancholic and intensely beautiful.
For those who wish to experience the full vision, the film Hidden in Pieces will screen globally in theaters throughout the middle of September. Additionally, a physical version of the project, featuring the 13-track live album and bonus recordings from US shows, will be released on October 23 via Secretly Canadian, with the bonus tracks also made available on streaming services that day.
