Wendy’s new emo EP features Silverstein and Memphis May Fire

Wendy’s has successfully traded the usual fast-food menu for a dose of angst and eyeliner, dropping a brand new EP that fuses the emo aesthetic with the beloved world of burgers and fries. This unexpected musical collaboration takes the genre known for its dramatic intensity and gives it a hilarious, mouth-watering twist.

The announcement followed a playful reimagining of the fast-food chain’s iconic logo, showcasing a red-headed figure dripping in eyeliner and black ribbons, signaling a clear embrace of the emo spirit. Now, the chain has delivered on the promise by releasing six songs that are tailor-made for the partnership, featuring emo artists singing about the ultimate combo meal.

The resulting EP, titled Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot, is packed with tracks that marry the angst of the genre with the simple pleasures of fast food. Featured artists include musicians from groups like blessthefall, State Champs, Memphis May Fire, Anberlin, Holy Wars, and Silverstein. The lyrical themes range from dramatic woes to demands for sustenance, exemplified by titles such as The Best Combo Meal On The Worst Night Of My Life and She Said She Didn’t Want Fries.

This musical pairing is part of a larger collaboration with Rise Records, further broadening the scope of the release. Other notable artists featured on the EP include Kat Leon, Matty Mullins, Shane Told, Derek DiScanio, and Chloe Kinnon, adding a diverse layer to the emo experience.

The involvement of Wendy’s in the music world is not a new development. The company has a history of engaging with pop culture and music, previously poking fun at acts like Beartooth, Papa Roach, Memphis May Fire, and GWAR during #NationalRoastDay.

More recently, the fast-food giant has stepped into wider cultural conversations, including entertaining figures like Ice Spice in their commercials following viral moments, and engaging with high-profile stories, such as when they jokingly asked if they could send Katy Perry back to space after her manager celebrated a space mission.

This latest musical venture cemented Wendy’s position as a brand willing to embrace irony and unexpected creativity, proving that sometimes, the best combos are the ones that break the mold.
