Post-metal heavyweights Neurosis have made a powerful comeback this year, ushering in a fresh era with their highly anticipated new album, An Undying Love for a Burning World. This sonic evolution was accompanied by significant changes in the band’s lineup, with Aaron Turner joining as co-lead vocalist and guitarist, bringing in members from the influential circles of Isis, SUMAC, and Old Man Gloom to fill the roles previously held by Scott Kelly.
The debut of this new configuration was a night packed with intensity. On Saturday, July 25th, the band took the stage for their first performance with the updated lineup, marking their first show in seven years. They played at Montana’s Fire in the Mountains festival, delivering a potent set that featured live debuts of several tracks from the new record, alongside beloved older cuts like “Times of Grace” and “Lost.”
The energy on stage was palpable as they introduced the material from An Undying Love for a Burning World. The performance showcased both the raw power of their established sound and the exciting new direction provided by the incoming members, setting a high bar for what the future of post-metal might look like.
The momentum built from that debut quickly led to an aggressive touring schedule. Neurosis is gearing up for a stacked run of shows, beginning with a massive appearance on September 5th in Asheville, NC, where they will share the bill with heavy hitters like Acid Bath, Melvins, and Kylesa at Hellbender.
Following this major festival appearance, the band heads to San Francisco for a double-night run on October 16th and 17th, taking over the stage at The Fillmore. These dates represent a chance for fans to experience the new era live in a major city setting.
Adding to the excitement, Neurosis’ frontman Steve Von Till is also embarking on a solo tour throughout August, hitting venues across the country from Spokane, WA, down to Salt Lake City, UT. These dates provide another opportunity for fans to connect with the band and its ongoing musical narrative.
