U2 and Wolf Alice announce 2027 stadium tour
The legendary rock titans U2 are gearing up for an epic continuation of their musical journey, announcing details for the UK and European leg of their 2027 world stadium tour, ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. This massive undertaking promises a dazzling display of sound and spectacle, set to be explored alongside their recent artistic releases.
Adding to the excitement, the band is also promoting their long-awaited 16th album, ‘Carnaval De Luz’, which features profound musical storytelling. The album itself is a rich tapestry of themes, exploring spirituality, freedom, friendship, and endurance, and is anchored by a new single, ‘Silencio’.
The tour, which is already buzzing with anticipation, highlights an international collaboration, featuring support from the dynamic group Wolf Alice. The itinerary is already filling up with spectacular dates across Europe, including stops in Stockholm, Paris, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and London, with the momentum building toward the final stretch in Ireland.
Beyond the stadium spectacle, the band has been busy making creative strides. The new album ‘Carnaval De Luz’ showcases a fascinating musical tapestry, notably featuring the late Dolly Parton’s final recorded vocal on ‘Torn’, alongside a poignant tribute to Rosalía with the track ‘The Mirror Maker’. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the collection is a vibrant reflection of their enduring artistic spirit.
The philosophical spirit of the project is evident in the band’s perspective. Guitarist The Edge captured the mood, describing the work as a combination of “showman, shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums.” It’s a manifesto built on defiance and enduring musical truth.
Meanwhile, the creative engine continues to hum. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. has recently rejoined U2 for rehearsals for the stadium run, bringing fresh energy back to the group following a hiatus for necessary surgery. He has already contributed to recent surprise homecoming gigs in Dublin and is preparing for an intimate London performance, proving that the band’s creative momentum is as powerful as their stage presence.
The journey of ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’ and the new album ‘Carnaval De Luz’ continues to unfold, offering fans a potent mix of massive, live entertainment and deeply personal musical explorations.
