U2 and Jack White release Carnaval De Luz limited vinyl

When two titans of rock decide to merge, the result isn’t just music—it’s a cultural event. U2 have joined forces with the legendary Jack White and his Third Man Records to release a special, limited-edition vinyl version of their forthcoming album, Jack White’s project, Carnaval De Luz.

This new collection, described as a “messy, provocative, sacred collection of songs,” is set to arrive on November 13, offering fans a deeper dive into the band’s evolving sonic landscape. The album, produced by Jacknife Lee, boasts twelve tracks and has already generated buzz with its lead single, Silencio.

The anticipation for this release is fueled by the band’s recent output. Earlier this year, U2 released two surprise EPs, ‘Days Of Ash’ and ‘Easter Lily’, which showcased the band’s willingness to explore challenging and emotionally resonant themes.

The connection between U2 and Jack White is deep, stretching back further than the new collaboration. White has previously paid homage to the band, recording a cover of ‘Love Is Blindness’ for a 20th anniversary version of their 1991 LP, ‘Achtung Baby’.

The special edition vinyl release is designed to appeal directly to the independent music community. It features creative direction by Gavin Friday, art direction and design by Shaughn McGrath, and the entire Third Man team, all presented in the signature yellow and black of Third Man Records. This variant is specifically created for independent music retailers.

The roots of Third Man Records trace back to Jack White, who founded the label in Detroit in 2001 and opened its first physical store in Nashville in 2009. The label’s ethos is deeply rooted in the region, with nearly all its records recorded, printed, and pressed in Detroit and produced by White.

This new project comes as U2 celebrates a significant milestone, marking 50 years since their formation. The band is also preparing for a new stadium tour, which includes the return of drummer Larry Mullen Jr. following recent surgery.

The sonic journey of Carnaval De Luz explores the future while grappling with the past. While some aspects of the music delve into defiance and dismay, others invite a sense of sacred reflection. As the album approaches its release, it follows a period where the artists have been focused on synthesizing their experiences to craft a truly new sound, hinting at what is yet to come.
