Bush Takes Over Triple M Fest with Epic Night Finale
When Melbourne’s Triple M Fest decided to extend the party into the night, they didn’t just add another concert—they created a cultural phenomenon. For the 2026 edition, the festival is set to feature the alt-rock titans Bush headlining the main stage at the Corner Hotel, joining Australian rock acts The Superjesus and You Am I.
This expansion marks a significant pivot for the radio station, blending the energy of live music with the intimacy of live broadcasting. The concept, which launched last year, successfully turns a full day of live radio into an immersive experience, culminating in a spectacular concert finale.
The schedule for the night promised a perfect blend of sports banter and heavy riffs. The festivities kick off at 6 a.m. with morning programming, including Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie broadcasting live from the venue, paired with a performance by The Superjesus. This is followed by the excitement of Deadset Legends and a special Grand Final-week edition of The Grand Final Rub.
As the afternoon progresses, the radio dial shifts to The Rush Hour with JB & Billy, keeping the energy high before the stage is set for the evening. The night culminates with the unmistakable sound of Bush closing out the event, delivering the perfect soundtrack for Grand Final week.
Jay Mueller, content director for Triple M Melbourne, summed up the vision perfectly, noting that the festival format delivers exactly what Melbourne demands: “Triple M Fest is exactly what Grand Final week in Melbourne should sound like — great footy chat, live music, and the biggest personalities coming together in one place.”
The inclusion of Bush is particularly exciting given the band’s current tour. This performance coincides with their broader Australian run, which includes a co-headline slot with American rock act Shinedown. For Bush, this marks their first Australian headline shows since 1996, coinciding with Shinedown’s first visit to the country in over 15 years.
The legacy of Bush stretches back decades, establishing them as a powerhouse in alternative rock. Their 1994 debut, Sixteen Stone, became a commercial juggernaut, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and earning six-time platinum certification in the U.S. thanks to massive hits like “Comedown” and “Glycerine.” Their follow-up, Razorblade Suitcase, cemented their status with a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200.
With a catalog that includes massive hits such as “Machinehead” and “Little Things,” and records sales exceeding 20 million worldwide, the band’s influence is undeniable. Furthermore, their work earned a Grammy nomination for the track “Swallowed,” solidifying their position as enduring legends of the rock world.
