In a world often defined by division, the Power to the People festival is gearing up to deliver more than just a rock concert; it’s positioning itself as a powerful anthem for unity and solidarity. A month before crucial midterm U.S. elections, this star-studded gathering promises to be a sonic statement built around the core pillars of “freedom, justice, equality, and rock and roll.”

The event, set to take place on October 3 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, will feature an incredible lineup of 17 individuals from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, bringing generations of musical icons together to celebrate shared ideals. The sheer scope of talent is staggering, including Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, Dropkick Murphys, Jack Black, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Cypress Hill, Stephen Stills, and even Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler.

Beyond the main stage acts, the festival emphasizes community and shared purpose. The music serves as the soundtrack for a message of peace, asserting that in a time of intense division, rock music is a vehicle for positive change. The organizers framed the event as a celebration of unity and joy, offering a powerful antidote to the current atmosphere.

Adding a uniquely personal touch to the celebration is the involvement of Tom Morello and his 15-year-old son, Roman, who will be taking the stage. Roman is expected to share the spotlight alongside Jack Black, who will lead a teenage Black Sabbath cover band, further cementing the festival’s focus on new generations making history.

The festival is deeply committed to civic engagement. A significant portion of all ticket proceeds, along with 100% of net VIP proceeds, will be directed toward VoteRiders and HeadCount. This initiative directly supports attendees in registering to vote and learning how to participate in upcoming elections, ensuring that the gathering extends beyond entertainment into active civic participation.

The commitment to social justice is reflected in the festival’s broad coalition of participating organizations. Groups like the ACLU, Farm Aid, Rock the Vote, Oxfam, Noise for Now, and Trans Maryland are all collaborating to make this event a nexus for advocacy and action.

In addition to the main roster, the event promises deep dives into musical history. Attendees can expect a special early evening set featuring drummer Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, and singer Taylor Momsen, all revisiting the legendary sounds of Soundgarden.

The Power to the People festival is more than just a concert; it is a vibrant convergence of rock music, political activism, and generational connection, proving that the power of music can indeed foster true unity in a challenging time.
