Tom Morello rocks out for Kimmel political performance

Tom Morello isn’t just a guitarist; he’s a sonic revolutionary who continues to rage against the machine.

The Rock Hall-inducted musician recently took the stage as the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he closed out the broadcast with a performance dripping with raw fury and righteous anger.

Morello delivered a powerful rendition of “Soldier in the Army of Love,” pulled from his new solo collection, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, released via Mom + Pop Music. Dressed in a cap and aviator glasses, he led a full band and backing vocalists in a protest song that turned the television screen into a platform for political defiance.

The performance was more than just music. It was a declaration. While Morello wielded the axe, his teenage son Roman joined in, ripping out a solo that carried a clear message, using his guitar to call out for homeless rights. It’s clear that the spirit of anti-fascism runs deep in the family, demonstrating a powerful legacy of activism.

Everyone Gets Everything They Want is packed with anti-fascist anthems, reflecting Morello’s lifelong commitment to using music as a tool for social change. His mission is crystal clear: “I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists. And I make anti-Nazi songs for anti-Nazis.”

This commitment is woven through his illustrious career. As a founding member of the legendary Rage Against the Machine, Morello was instrumental in forging a sound that challenged the status quo. The band achieved significant recognition, landing seven entries on the Billboard 200 chart, including two No. 1 hits: Evil Empire (1996) and The Battle of Los Angeles (1999).

Beyond Rage, Morello has continued to explore his voice as a bandleader with his solo project The Nightwatchman, securing three additional titles on the all-genre national albums chart. He has also collaborated with groups like Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band and his own solo venture, The Nightwatchman, expanding his influence across diverse musical landscapes.

Tom Morello remains a potent force, proving that music can be the most effective weapon against injustice, continuing to inspire listeners with a message of uncompromising resistance.
