The Witcher team reveals mysterious Project Hadar

The world of The Witcher is constantly evolving, and while the established franchise is busy polishing its legacy, the studio behind it is simultaneously diving deep into the mysterious depths of a brand new universe. Amidst the ongoing evolution of the saga, CD Projekt Red is managing an ambitious pipeline of projects, ranging from massive remasters to the groundwork for a completely new IP.

The studio recently wrapped up the work on a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster, setting the stage for continued expansion. Fans can look forward to the release of a new expansion, Songs Of The Past, scheduled for next year, promising richer lore and further adventures in the world.

But the real mystery is brewing in the background. CD Projekt Red is currently nurturing Project Hadar, a completely new intellectual property being developed from the ground up. This undertaking represents one of the studio’s most significant creative ventures to date, taking several years to solidify the foundational elements of this unseen world.

Michał Nowakowski, a key figure at the studio, shared insights into the secretive project. While the development is still in its earliest stages, the team has managed to establish a coherent vision for the world and its core elements. Although no game is currently in development, prototypes have been created, signaling a clear direction for the future of Hadar.

This commitment to world-building is part of a larger, sprawling vision. Developers are actively pursuing a future for the franchise, planning a full trilogy of new games, with The Witcher 4 slated for a launch in 2028. The plan is to distribute these epic stories over a six-year period, allowing for immersive development between each installment.

Beyond the main Witcher timeline, the studio is also tackling other exciting projects, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and various other Witcher remakes. This diverse portfolio demonstrates the team’s dedication to creating immersive, open-world experiences across multiple, rich fictional landscapes.
