In 2006, the music landscape was already shifting, but the arrival of the Raconteurs—featuring the songwriting prowess of Jack White—added a spark to the indie scene. Their debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, set a stage for a deeper exploration of the band’s history, leading to an extraordinary expanded companion package that digs deep into the creative process.

This special Vault release provides fans with a treasure trove of material, offering three distinct LPs that go far beyond the original release. Two of these discs are live recordings capturing the energy of the band’s initial shows, while the third compiles a collection of nine demos and outtakes, offering a raw look at the songs before they reached the studio.

The live material is packaged in striking colors, including Metallic Copper, Grand Green and Coke Bottle Clear, chronicling performances that showcase the band’s evolution. These recordings feature all 13 songs from Broken Boy Soldiers, plus bonus tracks like Five on the Five and two highly sought-after covers, including Love’s A House Is Not a Motel and the Flamin’ Groovies’ Headin’ for the Texas Border.

The second volume delves into the studio history, presenting a fascinating glimpse into the creation process. This compilation features various alternate takes, raw demos, and studio fragments, offering an intimate view of how the final tracks were shaped.

Among the hidden gems, the collection includes rare B-sides, such as The Bane Rendition, and previously unreleased studio material, including the track Mech Royal, which offers a rare look into the band’s creative backlog.

Beyond the music itself, the package is packed with physical artifacts. Fans receive a 35 mm film strip from the Jim Jarmusch-directed video for Steady, as She Goes, along with collectible cards featuring each band member from Third Man’s own trading card imprint.

The breadth of content is staggering, offering listeners an unparalleled journey through the band’s sound, from energetic live performances to whispered studio demos. This comprehensive offering ensures that anyone interested in the story behind the music gets access to the true depth of the Broken Boy Soldiers legacy.

For those looking to own this exclusive history, the Vault subscription approach is available now until October 31st. It’s a limited window to access this remarkable collection of music and memorabilia.
