The complete Verity soundtrack experience
The world of psychological drama just got a whole lot more intense with the arrival of Verity, a cinematic adaptation that pulls from the emotionally charged world of Colleen Hoover’s celebrated novels, including It Ends With Us, Regretting You, and Reminders Of Him.
Directed by Michael Showalter, the film plunges viewers into the complex psyche of bestselling author Verity Crawford. The narrative centers on a mysterious accident that sets off a chain of events, prompting Verity to recruit another writer, Lowen, to help complete her book series. But as they work through the pages, Lowen uncovers a manuscript that casts a shadow over Verity’s mental state, transforming a creative endeavor into a profound psychological thriller.
The tension escalates as the pursuit of the story clashes with the instability of the characters. The film masterfully explores the intricate relationship between creation and consequence, asking deeply unsettling questions about memory, truth, and the fragile nature of the mind under pressure.
Leading the cast is the formidable Anne Hathaway, joined by Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, and Irina Dvorovenko, who bring dynamic performances to the screen, anchoring the emotional turmoil of the story.
Adding another layer of artistic depth is the film’s distinctive soundtrack, composed by Volker Bertelmann. Bertelmann, known for his work on acclaimed scores such as All Quiet On The Western Front, The Old Guard, and The Uprising, crafts a score that perfectly complements the film’s intense atmosphere.
Beyond the original score, Verity features a thoughtful collection of needledrops, weaving a tapestry of modern and classic sounds that enhance the emotional landscape. Highlights include tracks by artists like FKA Twigs, Curtis Mayfield, Benny Goodman, and Kali Uchis, lending an eclectic, soulful texture to the cinematic experience.
