Teenage Fanclub drops new album and shares “Day in the Sun”

The legendary Teenage Fanclub is back with a new sonic journey, announcing their 13th studio album, Do Not Dare To Dream, set for release on October 9 through Merge. After twelve previous releases, the band faced a unique challenge in naming their latest work, which singer-guitarist Norman Blake noted was difficult.

The creative process for the record was deeply immersive. The album was produced entirely by the band, involving co-founders Raymond McGinley and Francis Macdonald, alongside Euros Childs and David McGowan. For the recording sessions, the group sought out a profoundly atmospheric setting, capturing the music at the historic Black Bay Studio on the remote Scottish island of Great Bernera.

The location provided an equally inspiring backdrop for their musical introspection. McGinley reflected on the experience, noting that although life is short, music is eternal. He recalled that finding a place where they made the record felt like stepping into a timeless space, a place where people would have been singing thousands of years ago.

The album kicks off with the immediate charm of their first single, “Day in the Sun”. This track is a signature harmony-laden janglerock earworm, written and sung by Blake, promising an instantly recognizable taste of the new material.

Fans can catch this infectious sound in person throughout the autumn with extensive UK and EU dates. The tour schedule offers opportunities to experience the band’s evolving sound across Europe.

Highlights of the touring schedule include performances ranging from Dunfermline and Tokyo to Sevilla, Granada, and Paris, offering a wide geographical spread for devoted fans to experience the energy of Teenage Fanclub live. Dates span through September and November 2026, with sold-out appearances in major locations like San Fernando (Cadiz), Berlin, Madrid, and London.
