Blondshell has officially unveiled her latest musical offering, Violins, set to arrive on September 25th via Partisan. This new project builds upon the artistic momentum of her previous work, following up the success of If You Asked for a Picture, and it features the production of regular collaborator Yves Rothman.
Blondshell describes the record as heavy in a way that demands attention. Her main focus, however, wasn’t just the sound; it was the imagery and impact of the songs. She aimed to create music with powerful lead lines, striving to step out of the shadows and into the light.
The thematic core of Violins delves into complex emotional landscapes. When crafting the album, she explored a dichotomy between patience and violence, juxtaposing images of tenderness, like putting one’s head on someone’s shoulder, with explorations of conflict. This reflection led her to embrace a philosophy of slow healing—the idea that things genuinely take the time they need, urging a refusal to be rushed by external pressures.
This sense of patience is reflected in the album’s message: weeding out those who will not allow limitations, allowing space for genuine growth and careful mending. The title track itself encapsulates this feeling, summing up the record’s journey through these contrasting emotional states.
As Blondshell prepares to bring this vision to life on stage, her fall tour kicks off in October. Fans can catch her live in New York City at Terminal 5 on November 6th, joined by artists Prewn and NoSo, among other collaborators.
