Shoegaze Revival Roars Back: Swervedriver‘s 35th Anniversary Tour Gets a Psychedelic Lineup

That spirit is alive and well as Swervedriver celebrates 35 years of their debut album Raise, kicking off a major North American tour leg this month. Leading the charge on this celebration is the newer band Slow Fiction, who are set to open the show, adding fresh energy to the bill. Meanwhile, veterans of the scene are also making reappearance: old friends The Still Out will be gracing the stage for dates in the New York City area, while Midwest shoegaze legends The Life and Times will bring their sound to Chicago.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. The second leg of the tour, taking place later in the year across the West Coast, is stacked with equally exciting additions. Seattle veterans Love Battery are back in action, joining Swervedriver for performances in Portland and Seattle. Adding to the opening act on the California shows are Philly shoegazers Bleary Eyed, demonstrating that the sound of dream pop and noise continues to evolve.

Love Battery’s return is particularly thrilling. Formed in 1989 during the grunge era, they were instrumental in the psychedelic side of that movement. After years spent exploring side projects and recording music across multiple labels, the band has now released their full-length LP Through A Crack In The Matrix on Flotation Records. With over 30 years of recording experience, they are ready to deliver a potent dose of their sound with their current lineup: Ron Nine, Kevin Whitworth, Bruce Fairweather, and Cassady Laton.

This convergence of established history and renewed talent promises an unforgettable journey for fans of dream pop and noise.
