Stray Kids Mexico Tour and STRAYCITY Festival Action
The city of Mexico City was transformed into a dazzling, electrifying spectacle this past Friday as K-pop supergroup Stray Kids delivered their epic concert, STRAYCITY. More than just a performance, the event served as a vibrant celebration of music, choreography, and the deep-rooted bonds between South Korea and Mexico.
Held at the GNP Seguros Stadium, the event marked the thrilling conclusion of Stray Kids‘ Latin American tour. The sheer scale of the celebration drew an estimated 60,000 fans, creating an atmosphere where friendship shone as brightly as the stage lights.
The concert was a masterclass in immersion, blending high-energy choreography with an ethereal, festival-style setting. The energy was palpable as the group, consisting of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N., brought their powerful hits to life. Fans, cheering with thousands of Nachimbongs, joined in, performing the intricate moves alongside the idols, making the stadium a living sea of synchronized rhythm.
The stage itself was a work of art, featuring massive flame towers that danced in perfect coordination with the glowing fan lights. This visual synergy created an unforgettable, immersive environment where the music, the movement, and the spectacle merged into one breathtaking experience.
Adding further flavor to the night were exciting guest performances. The show featured acts like the South Korean-Japanese band Nexz, alongside Mexican performers Renee and Andrés Obregón, who opened the event and added to the festive spirit.
The interaction between the artists and the audience was electric. Bang Chan, mixing Korean and Mexican slang, shared a moment with the crowd, asking, “Did you guys not want to leave either? Let’s see how much longer we can go,” perfectly capturing the shared euphoria.
The celebration reached its highest point when the event hosted a special diplomatic touch. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung attended the show, sharing in the joy of K-pop and symbolizing the strong cultural ties between the two nations. President Lee shared his enthusiasm, noting how K-pop showcases the great power and strong culture of Korea to the world.
The cultural exchange extended beyond the stage. The visit also featured cultural outreach, as President Lee and the First Lady were joined by Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Mexico’s secretary of Culture, who accompanied ten children from vulnerable communities, gifting them tickets to the show. This act underscored the event’s deeper meaning as a bridge for global cultural understanding.
STRAYCITY proved to be an extraordinary event, cementing its status as the largest concert Stray Kids has ever hosted in Mexico. As the tour continues, the excitement remains high, with the group set to return for a second night on Saturday, concluding their Latin American journey.
