Squanderers announce new album Bright Madness hear “Theme For The Casino At 5 A.M”
The emergence of Squanderers is a masterclass in minimalist improvisation, a trio that has carved out a distinct and captivating space within the underground music scene. Two years ago, David Grubbs, Kramer, and Wendy Eisenberg converged their talents to create a sound defined by sparsity and searching textures—a guitar-bass interplay stripped bare of any unnecessary accompaniment.
Their debut effort laid down a foundation for this unique aesthetic. They released If A Body Meet A Body in 2024, issued on Kramer’s Shimmy-Disc label. This album immediately established their reputation for deep, improvisational exploration.
Following that success, the band continued their journey with a sophomore LP, Skantagio, released in 2025, further deepening the intricate and searching atmosphere of their music. Each release demonstrated a commitment to raw, unadorned musical expression.
Now, anticipation is building for their next offering. Squanderers are set to release Bright Madness in September, an album that promises to be equally compelling. This new project will be released via Drag City, continuing their trajectory as pioneers of improvisational guitar-bass music.
