SOB x RBE Share New Song “Ten Summers” After Seven Years
In 2017, a wave of raw energy swept through the Bay Area music scene when two distinct teenage rap duos from Vallejo, California, decided to join forces and form SOB x RBE. Their debut was immediately striking: a hard, energetic style that delivered a refreshingly potent take on classic Bay Area sounds, setting an immediate tone for their creative journey.
The group quickly found a place in the cultural conversation. By 2018, their music gained significant traction when they were featured on the soundtrack for Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther, further cementing their place in mainstream attention.
However, the trajectory of SOB x RBE proved to be anything but smooth. Amidst the creative momentum, the group experienced a chaotic period, constantly teetering on the brink of dissolution. This tension culminated just before the release of their 2019 album, Strictly Only Brothers.
Tragedy struck in that same year with the legal proceedings involving one of the former members, Lul G. The events surrounding him took a devastating turn, leading to an arrest for murder and subsequent sentencing to 21 years in prison in 2023. This intense period brought profound sorrow alongside the music’s narrative.
Despite these deeply challenging circumstances, the legacy of the group endured. Today, the remaining members of SOB x RBE are back together, marking a significant moment by reuniting to release their first new single in seven years, continuing to share their voice with the world.
