Shatner isn’t just chasing a new hobby; he’s chasing pure passion. Diving into the world of heavy metal, he explained that his entry into the music scene is driven by an instinct rather than planning. “It isn’t so much, ‘When do I come in?’, but I’ve got to feel the music and then come in with the lyrics. This passion is already leading to some serious bookings. While official announcements are still pending for the massive Coachella festival in 2027, Shatner has reportedly leaked the band’s presence on the lineup, confirming their slot for the event. The group, which includes guitarist and musical director Marcus Nand, guitarist Britt Lightning, bassist Phil Soussan, and drummer Fred Aching, will first make their live debut at Riot Fest in Chicago next month, previewing material from their forthcoming album, What The F Is Heavy Metal.

The energy surrounding Shatner and his band extends beyond the music itself. Last month, the group drew attention not only for their sound but also for their famously outrageous rider demands at the Riot Fest event. These legendary requirements included an introductory film created by GWAR, fire-breathers, a DeLorean to facilitate his journey to the stage, four feet of Polish sausage, and an assortment of adoptable puppies.

It seems Shatner is living up to the spirit of those demands, embracing spectacle with every note. Beyond the metal, his life remains one of relentless adventure. Having achieved the remarkable feat of being the oldest person to go into space via a Blue Origin rocket flight in 2021, and having received lifetime achievement honors, Shatner continues to demonstrate that even at ninety-five, there is no limit to curiosity or excitement.
