The battle for the coveted UK chart crown is heating up, pitting a newly established record against a pulsating world anthem. Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s collaboration, Rein Me In, is locked in a high-stakes chase against Shakira and Burna Boy’s energetic 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem, Dai Dai.
“Rein Me In” already holds an enviable position, having matched the legendary status of Frankie Laine’s longest reign on the Official U.K. Singles Chart with 1953’s “I Believe.” The duo are aiming for a historic milestone this week, targeting their 19th consecutive week at No. 1. If they manage to hold the top spot, the track will claim an unprecedented title as the longest-running No. 1 single in history.
However, the competition is fierce. Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” have recently surged into the spotlight, putting the World Cup anthem firmly on its way to a potential first week at No. 1. The two competing tracks are neck-and-neck, separated by just 600 units.
The journey of “Rein Me In” itself has been nothing short of spectacular. Released in February 2025 as part of Sam Fender’s acclaimed People Watching album, it quickly became a chart powerhouse.
