Security threat forces Ella Langley to cancel Oklahoma concert

The excitement surrounding the Dandelion Tour hit an unexpected pause this past weekend when country singer Ella Langley was forced to cancel her scheduled concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Only a few hours before showtime, Langley announced the cancellation, citing a serious security threat. The decision was made swiftly, prioritizing the safety of herself, her fans, and venue personnel.

In a statement released on her social media, Langley explained that the performance had to be called off. “The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority,” she wrote, acknowledging the disappointment the news caused fans who had planned to attend.

The reason for the abrupt cancellation stemmed from heightened security concerns. The Tulsa Police Department confirmed that they had taken immediate action following a threatening call.

During the initial sweeps of the area before the event, the police team—including K-9, Bomb Team, Patrol, and BOK security—found no credible threat. However, a subsequent call brought serious concerns, prompting the authorities to conduct further sweeps of the building and surrounding area out of an abundance of caution.

Captain Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department detailed the situation, explaining that after the routine sweep, a call was received threatening the lives of those attending the event with potential violence, including threats of shots fired and bombs. This necessitated the re-evaluation and subsequent cancellation of the performance.

Langley herself expressed deep regret regarding the situation, emphasizing that the decision was not taken lightly. “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way,” she shared, underscoring her commitment to safety above all else.

While the concert was canceled, the focus remained on the ongoing investigation by local authorities. The police stressed that the incident is under investigation and encouraged the public to report any helpful information to Tulsa Crime Stoppers.

Despite the setback, Langley’s tour remains firmly on track. The artist is scheduled to continue her journey, with stops planned for Saturday night in Lubbock, Texas, before heading to Los Angeles for two shows at the Greek Theater on October 13 and 14.
