As the vibrant chaos of Burning Man 2026 winds down in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, the final days of the epic event have been overshadowed by a tragic loss. A second attendee has died during the festival, marking a somber end to the celebration.

The incident occurred as the festival entered its concluding phase, bringing an unexpected darkness to the community of participants. The deceased has been identified as Craigh Mann, a 60-year-old attendee.

Campmates discovered Mann’s passing during the final hours of the event. He was found deceased by his campmates around 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th, at his camp in the Black Rock Desert.

The discovery brought an immediate halt to the festivities and cast a pall over the camp. While the Burning Man Project is working to manage the aftermath of the event, the tragic nature of the death has added a heavy note to the festival’s already intense atmosphere.
