Rosalía dazzles with balletic rain performances on SNL

Rosalía brought a spectacular dose of theatrical flair to Saturday Night Live, delivering two unforgettable performances from her acclaimed fourth studio album, LUX.

The appearance showcased the singer’s unique blend of music and movement. Following an introduction by host Shane Gillis, Rosalía opened the show with “Reliquia”, performing with an intensity that felt straight out of a ballet. She moved with a grace that seemed to defy gravity, appearing to hold poses en pointe throughout the choreography. This performance reflected her deep commitment to the choreography featured on the LUX tour, having trained with a professional ballerina to master the demanding movements.

Dressed in a dark, ballet-inspired ensemble, Rosalía set the stage ablaze. As shadows of orchestral musicians played across the flowing curtain behind her, the atmosphere was instantly cinematic. “Reliquia” wasn’t just a song; it was a visual narrative, cementing the performance as a true artistic spectacle.

For her second breathtaking appearance, Rosalía took to the dimly lit stage in a sheer gown to deliver the devastating closing track from the album, “Magnolias”. As the song reached its emotional peak, the atmosphere shifted dramatically; in-studio rain began to pour over the singer, adding a layer of raw, dramatic intensity to the performance.

This appearance marked Rosalía’s second visit to SNL, following her highly publicized debut in 2022 with the album MOTOMAMI, which featured hits like “Chicken Teriyaki” and “La Noche de Anoche”. She also made a memorable cameo during Bad Bunny’s 2021 appearance on the show, sharing a moment performing “La Noche de Anoche” alongside the superstar.

The album LUX was a massive cultural phenomenon upon release, immediately commanding attention across music charts. It debuted strongly on Billboard charts, entering the Billboard 200 at No. 4. The success was undeniable, as the album simultaneously topped five different Billboard charts, including Top Latin Albums, Classical Albums, Classical Crossover Albums, and World Albums.

The creative depth of LUX was further amplified by the fact that the album was recorded in thirteen different languages. This multi-lingual approach allowed the music to transcend genre boundaries, effortlessly blending pop sensibilities with classical and classical crossover influences, establishing Rosalía as a truly global musical force.
