Released by Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, this massive package fully documents Dylan’s 1976 journey, spanning 27 incredible dates that kicked off on April 18, 1976, in Lakeland, Florida, and concluded in Salt Lake City on May 25th. For the first time, these performances are finally available for listeners to experience the raw energy of the spectacle.
The treasure trove of 39-CDs includes an astonishing 381 tracks, with 371 of them remaining unreleased, promising deep dives into the material that fueled the legendary tour.
Beyond the overall sweep of the tour, the release features a special 3LP set dedicated to the complete May 16 Fort Worth show. This special edition features 22 tracks, remixed from the original multi-track tapes, and includes Dylan’s rendition of the iconic ‘Going, Going, Gone’.
The sounds of the Revue were orchestrated by a stellar ensemble of musicians. Dylan shared the stage with fellow icon Joan Baez for moving duets, including powerful performances of classics like ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ and ‘Railroad Boy’. The band also featured instrumentalists such as bassist Rob Stoner, violinist Scarlet Rivera, drummer Howie Wyeth, and guitar legends Mick Ronson, Steven Soles, David Mansfield, and T Bone Burnett.
Music journalist Mikal Gilmore, in the liner notes, captured the sheer brilliance of the live experience, noting that the performance of ‘Idiot Wind’ in NBC’s Hard Rain was among the most rageful and brilliant performances Dylan had ever committed before the camera. Gilmore summed up the legacy by saying that what the fans now hold is the story of the Rolling Thunder movie that was never made, played out vividly on the stages for four-and-a-half weeks in the spring of 1976.
The trove of music includes powerful moments like the Fort Worth performance, which featured tracks such as ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’, ‘I Pity the Poor Immigrant’, ‘Going, Going, Gone’, and ‘Idiot Wind’.
While this historic release celebrates the past, Dylan’s musical journey remains dynamic. Earlier this summer, the singer wrapped up the US leg of his 2026 tour by adding new guitarist Jimmie Vaughan to the live band. This adjustment followed a period of significant line-up shifts, including the departures of long-serving guitarists Doug Lancio and acoustic guitarist Bob Britt. As the band prepares for the UK and European leg of the ‘Rough And Rowdy Ways’ tour, the exact lineup for the upcoming dates remains under wraps, promising yet another fascinating chapter in the saga of Bob Dylan.
