Raconteurs reunite live at Jack White’s Nashville gig
When music history takes a detour, it often results in a stunning, unexpected collision. Last night in Nashville, that collision took the form of a highly anticipated reunion: The Raconteurs came back together on stage with Jack White for a surprise performance after nearly seven years.
The electrifying event took place at The Truth, a new 4,400-capacity venue that recently opened in the city. Jack White welcomed his bandmates onto the stage for the encore, marking a moment of pure, unadulterated rock history.
The quartet comprised White, fellow singer and guitarist Brendan Benson, bassist Jack Lawrence, and drummer Patrick Keeler. The chemistry between the members is palpable, especially given the shared history that binds them together. While Patrick Keeler is also part of White’s current solo touring band, this performance brought the core dynamic of the original group back into focus.
Their setlist was a nostalgic journey through their catalog, opening with the iconic 2006 single ‘Steady, As She Goes’ before diving into tracks like ‘Hands’, ‘Level’, and ‘Broken Boy Soldier’. They concluded the performance with ‘Carolina Drama’, pulled from their 2008 album, ‘Consolers Of The Lonely’.
This reunion was not entirely new; the band had previously made a live appearance together in 2019 in Honolulu, bringing an end to an extensive touring year supporting their third album, ‘Help Us Stranger’. That record, released in mid-2019, followed their earlier acclaimed works, ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’ and ‘Consolers Of The Lonely’.
The anticipation for the live moment had been building on social media, with White teasing fans ahead of the show, hinting that a little surprise was in order.
Beyond the Raconteurs, White showcased a broad range of his artistic output, performing tracks from his broader catalogue, including ‘Icky Thump’, ‘Black Math’, and ‘Seven Nation Army’, alongside solo gems such as ‘Lazaretto’, ‘Freedom At 21’, and ‘That’s How I’m Feeling’.
Jack White’s recent solo work, such as his album ‘Frozen Charlotte’, continues to generate buzz, demonstrating his ability to deliver compelling live performances. The energy of the night proved that some musical connections simply endure.
