Quavo on Takeoff’s Death and the Relationship Fix

Migos brothers find peace: Quavo and Offset discuss healing after loss and charting their next moves

The journey through loss can often be a painful process, but for some, tragedy serves as a catalyst for profound connection. That is the powerful dynamic that emerged between Quavo and Offset following the untimely passing of their mutual friend and brother, Takeoff. The two artists have recently opened up about how this difficult experience helped mend the cracks in their relationship, moving them toward a shared understanding and a unified creative vision.

Reflecting on the experience, Quavo noted that the grief provided a necessary release. He explained that the death of Takeoff helped clear away the friction and upset that had existed between him and Offset. “I feel like it eased it a little bit,” he reflected. “It threw out all the things that I was upset about or that we had friction about.”

Quavo elaborated on the philosophy of letting go, emphasizing that true emotional resilience comes from accepting what cannot be controlled. He shared a perspective that suggests allowing oneself to process pain is essential for moving forward. “I think that, long as I understand whatever everybody be going through and that I can’t control or can’t be upset or emotional about that’s where I think that chrome outer layer come from. That part of me losing my brother and understanding that it can’t get no tougher than that.”

This understanding led to a renewed focus on external goals and purpose. He stated that this clarity allows him to channel his energy into his work and giving back to his community. “So, whatever that’s in front of me that I got to deal with to make my life more easier… and to give these fans what they want, I’m going to do it,” he concluded.

Turning to their future, the conversation naturally shifted to the music. Quavo and Offset are currently working toward a collaborative Migos album, a project that promises to be an emotional anchor for the group. They are determined to release the music and let the fans judge the final product, ensuring that every release is filled with their absolute best effort.

Separately, Quavo is gearing up for his solo effort, QRÖMELIFE. This project is set to feature a highly anticipated reunion with Offset, with the entire album being fully produced by Pharrell Williams, adding an extra layer of expectation to the creative endeavor.
