Pump It hits 1 Billion Views on YouTube

The Enduring Beat: How The Black Eyed Peas Hit the Billion View Milestone

Two decades after its release, the iconic track Pump It has officially cemented its place in music history by joining YouTube’s Billion Views Club. This milestone is a testament to the enduring power of a track that manages to transcend its original release and resonate across generations.

This achievement isn’t an isolated event. The music video for the 2005 release is the group’s fourth track to achieve this staggering feat, following massive successes like Where Is the Love?, RITMO, their collaboration with J Balvin for the Bad Boys for Life soundtrack, and My Humps, which also crossed the billion-view threshold in July.

The origins of “Pump It” are steeped in rock and roll energy. The track famously samples Dick Dale’s 1962 version of Misirlou, giving the song a high-octane, vintage feel. It was housed on the Monkey Business album, which itself achieved a No. 2 debut on the Billboard 200, showcasing the group’s early commercial appeal.

Pump It” has lived a rich life through remixes and adaptations. The song was given a high-energy EDM spin by Dutch producer Tiësto in 2022, resulting in the track Pump It Louder”, which appeared on his album Drive. Furthermore, a remix, Pump It Harder”, was released for the deluxe edition of their 2009 album, The E.N.D..

The group’s trajectory evolved as the creative landscape shifted. After the departure of Fergie in 2018, the Black Eyed Peas continued their journey as a trio, maintaining an amicable and collaborative spirit. Their subsequent work, including the album Elevation in 2022, continued to showcase their diverse musical influences.

Despite the changes, the chemistry and legacy remained strong. In a heartwarming display of connection, Fergie hinted at a reunion in December 2025, sharing photos on Instagram with will.i.am, Taboo, and Apl.de.Ap celebrating their milestone birthdays. This anticipation culminated publicly in May when the classic lineup reunited on stage for a surprise appearance at the American Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena, where they accepted an award for Rock That Body.

From sampling old rock sounds to hitting global streaming giants and celebrating personal milestones, the Black Eyed Peas continue to prove that some hits aren’t just songs—they are cultural touchstones that keep the party going.
