Power Trip shares first music since Riley Gale’s death

The story of Power Trip, one of the most influential bands in the hardcore and thrash scene, is intertwined with a sudden and heartbreaking loss. In 2020, frontman Riley Gale passed away at the tragically young age of 34, leaving behind a void felt deeply by his fans, friends, bandmates, and family.

Yet, even in the wake of such profound sorrow, the spirit of the music refused to fade. Just two years later, the guitar legacy continued with the formation of Fugitive, spearheaded by guitarist Blake Ibanez. The new band quickly established itself, continuing the raw, heavy tradition of Power Trip while crafting genuinely compelling new tracks.

The momentum and the dedication to the music continued to draw attention, culminating in a surprise moment of connection. At a 2023 show in Austin, Power Trip orchestrated a reunion, bringing a powerful presence back to the stage.

In this unexpected convergence, Seth Gilmore, the frontman of Fugitive and Skourge, stepped in to fill the vocal role, carrying the legacy forward. Following legal settlements with Gale’s family, Gilmore officially became the new voice of Power Trip, seamlessly bridging the past and the present.

This transition allowed the music to continue evolving, demonstrating that even when creative forces face immense personal tragedy, the rhythm of the music endures. The ongoing release of new material further cements the enduring impact of the band and the creative circle surrounding it.
