Poppy launches her own Fortnite musical mini-game

She has just unveiled details for her own interactive musical journey set to launch in the hugely popular online video game world of Fortnite.
Poppy Secret Run is not just a game; it is an interactive musical experience designed to transport players directly into Poppy’s surreal universe. Fans will get to live inside her world and experience a reimagined performance of ‘Empty Hands’ – cut ‘Time Will Tell’ – through exclusive content available throughout the adventure.
The experience invites players to move through and interact with a world centered on clocks, where every choice dictates destiny. Players navigate this environment, ultimately choosing between two paths: the Light or the Dark. These decisions aren’t arbitrary; they fundamentally shape the player’s journey and determine where they ultimately end up.
Guiding this unique exploration are two versions of Poppy, alongside her beloved real-life sphynx cat, Pi, adding a wonderfully surreal layer to the narrative. As players make choices, the world responds dynamically, revealing a distinct and evolving path tailored to their decisions.
Behind this captivating experience is a high level of production and artistry. Poppy collaborated with the French studio SoWhen? to bring this vision to life. The core musical performance, ‘Time Till Live,’ was meticulously captured using cutting-edge markerless motion capture and OptiTrack technology. This technology allowed the movements, facial expressions, and lip movements of Poppy to be perfectly linked to the gameplay. Every flip, rise, and collapse in the performance was synchronized perfectly to the beat, directly linking the music to the action.
This innovative approach ensured that Poppy’s stage presence was seamlessly infused into her in-game character, creating an experience that feels both deeply musical and intensely interactive. It’s a masterclass in translating live performance into dynamic digital gameplay.
Poppy Secret Run is set to go live next week, starting on Friday, October 23, and will be available until November 23. While the experience itself is available for players to explore, it is important to note that it is not endorsed or administered by Fortnite creators Epic Games, meaning items like Poppy skins and in-game items will not be included as part of the launch.
